Lower Secondary School - Education

The educational process at “Drita” is provided on three levels:

  • Compulsory general educational minimum, based on the syllabus of the Ministry of Education;
  • Teaching beyond the necessary minimum and creation of conditions for applying knowledge in different practical situations (the standard of “Drita”);
  • Understanding the individual interests and abilities of the students and addressing them;

The work is structured in such a way that it suits the following requirements:

  • Competitive education;
  • High criteria of control and assessment;
  • Variety of teaching techniques and methods;
  • Interdisciplinary approach;
  • Obligatory acquirement of the school’s academic minimum (if a student’s results are below Very good 4.50, the student works after classes with the teachers individually,  until the problem is solved);
  • School tests at the end of the term and the school year;
  • Individual extra work with students, who show results higher than average;
  • Special tests provided by the Ministry of Education;
  • Individual and group work on school projects and research work (at least twice a year);
  • Use of modern technical equipment for the students’ training and individual work;
  • Providing possibilities for communication and interaction with peers and teachers

            Foreign language teaching is central to students’ learning. The main foreign language taught from the kindergarten to the 12th grade is english. The students start learning a second foreign language in the 5th grade and they can choose between German, Russian and Spanish. Foreign language teaching aims at communicative and language competence, allowing the students to express freely themselves, share their ideas and opinions and take part in discussions in the language they have been taught.

            At the end of every school year, the students sit for the Anglia Examination Syndicate test of english (Anglia/ Ascentis, Chichester College, Great Britain). The highest level of the test gives the opportunity to study and work in an english-speaking environment.

At “Drita”, we value the contacts and good communication with the parents of our students (individual and class parent-teacher conferences, regular written reports, electronic class register, etc). Led by our shared aims, we assure timely feedback for the benefit of the child’s development.

            The process of education and upbringing is accomplished according to the school system. Motivation of the students, abilities for self-control, as well as appropriate social behaviour are achieved by means of clearly formulated and well-grounded rights, obligations, privileges and sanctions.

            Apart from the obligatory subjects each student chooses an extra-curricular course.
Four classes of extra-curricular courses are held per week and the course can be changed every term.

            Daily medical reviews, consultations with a psychologist and a speech therapist as well as healthy, balanced meals and school door to door transport are available. All this help the students feel safe and at ease.
